FEMA - National Incident Management System (NIMS):

To All Montage Mountain Ski Patrollers:

    You are always encouraged to take part in furthering your education as a Montage Mountain Ski Patroller.

In the near future all Montage Mountain Ski Patrollers will be required to complete the following National

Incident Management System (NIMS) courses.  The recommended sequence is as follows: IS-700.A, IS-100.B and IS-200.B. After completing and testing on each course you will receive a certificate (if you pass the test)

in your email.  Carefully save and print your certificates. After completion, please bring one copy of each

course certificate to the current patrol record keeper trustee. Each course is outlined below along with links

to the courses and tests.  Please note: Turn off your popup blockers when taking the tests.

Course Descriptions and Links to Incident Command System Courses

Course Date: 10/31/2013


Course Overview: This course introduces and overviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents.



Course Objectives: At the end of this course, students will be able to: 1) Describe the intent of NIMS.

             2) Describe the key concepts and principles underlying

                 NIMS.

             3) Describe the purpose of the NIMS Components

                 including: Preparedness, Communications and

                 Information Management, Resource Management,

                 and Command and Management.

             4) Describe the purpose of the National Integration

                 Center.


Note: This course provides a basic introduction to NIMS.

It is not designed to replace Incident Command System and position-specific training.





Primary Audience: Individuals with emergency management responsibilities including prevention, preparedness, response,

recovery and mitigation.

IS-700.A: National Incident Management System

Course Date: 10/31/2013


Course Overview: EMI has revised the ICS 100 course to reflect lessons learned since its release in 2006. This course is NIMS compliant and uses the objectives developed collaboratively by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group, the United States Fire Administration, the United States Department of Agriculture and the Emergency Management Institute.


ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).


The Emergency Management Institute developed its ICS courses collaboratively with:

   1) National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG)

   2) U.S. Department of Agriculture

   3) United States Fire Administration's National Fire Programs

       Branch


NIMS Compliance: This course is NIMS compliant and meets the NIMS Baseline Training requirements for I-100.



Primary Audience: Persons involved with emergency planning, response or recovery efforts.

IS-100.B: Introduction to Incident Command System,

Course Date: 10/31/2013


Course Overview: ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.



The Emergency Management Institute developed its ICS courses collaboratively with:

   1) National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG)

   2) U.S. Department of Agriculture

   3) United State Fire Administration's National Fire Programs

       Branch






This course is NIMS compliant and meets the NIMS Baseline Training requirements for IS-200.


Primary Audience: Persons involved with emergency planning, response or recovery efforts.


Prerequisites:

   1) IS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System is

       required.

   2) Completion of IS 700.A, National Incident Management

        System (NIMS), An Introduction is recommended.
